Microblading has held its place at the top of beauty industry trends for years now, yet th`ere are still a few lingering misconceptions about it. From claims that it’s “just like tattooing” to talk that it’s unbearably painful, it can be tough to know what’s true (especially if you’re just beginning to explore it.)

As a professionally trained and double certified microblading artist, I’ve heard every myth there is. So today, I’m breaking down some of the most common misunderstandings and sharing the real facts behind this incredible service.

Myth 1: Microblading is the same as tattooing.

Fact:

While both use pigment, the process and results are entirely different.

Microblading is performed using a handheld manual tool to create fine, natural-looking hair strokes on the surface of the skin. Tattooing uses a machine that implants ink much deeper, leading to heavier saturation and more permanent results.

Microblading offers a softer, more precise, and realistic outcome that fades naturally over time instead of turning reddish or bluish like traditional tattoos can.

At Rove Beauty, I work exclusively with Tina Davies pigments — the industry’s gold standard for safety, consistency, and beautiful healed results.

Tina Davies is an internationally renowned permanent makeup artist and educator known for creating pigments that heal true-to-tone across every skin type. Her formula is stable, vegan, and trusted by professionals around the world for producing results that age gracefully.

This combination of technique and pigment quality ensures that my clients leave with brows that are flattering, natural, and long-lasting, not harsh or heavy.

Myth 2: Microblading is painful.

Fact:

Microblading is surprisingly comfortable. Before the procedure, a medical-grade numbing cream is applied to minimize discomfort. Most of my clients describe the feeling as light scratching or tweezing — definitely not something to dread.

If beauty hurts, it’s probably the part where you’ve been drawing your brows on every morning… not the microblading itself

Myth 3: Microblading results are forever.

Fact:

Microblading is semi-permanent, meaning it gradually fades over time.

Your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare all play a role in how long the pigment lasts. Typically 12 to 24 months is when a refresh is needed, but some clients like to come earlier to keep the colour deeper.

Think of it as an investment in low-maintenance beauty: your brows stay full and defined, but you have the flexibility to adjust your shape or colour as trends and preferences evolve.

Myth 4: Microblading looks fake or unnatural.

Fact:

When performed by a trained, artistic eye, microblading enhances your natural beauty — it doesn’t replace it.

Each brow I design at Rove Beauty is mapped and customized to your face, symmetry, and features.

Using Tina Davies pigments allows me to achieve incredibly natural healed results that blend seamlessly with your real brow hair. The goal is effortless beauty that looks like you , just more polished.

Myth 5: Anyone can perform microblading.

Fact:

Microblading is a technical and artistic procedure that requires proper education, precision, and practice.

Through my certification with LashForever Academy, I received in-depth training on brow mapping, skin anatomy, pigment theory, and advanced microblading technique; all essential for safe, consistent results.

Choosing an artist with professional training means your brows are in capable hands, from sterilization standards to pigment selection and aftercare.
